On behalf of the Town Council and employees of Petty Harbour Maddox Cove I would like to welcome you to our web-site. Like our beautiful and historical Town our web-site is a work in progress. Browse through and become totally encompassed with our history, culture and breath taking scenery.We invite you to come visit and discover the uniqueness of our small historic community that replicates the flavor of rural Newfoundland Labrador. Petty Harbour Maddox Cove is one of the first fishing villages in Newfoundland Labrador, with its rich fishing history dating back to the sixteen hundreds. Come walk the harbour and streets, have a chat with our residents and fisher people as they are our greatest resources and a wealth of knowledge and information.
The Community Museum opens early June and closes late September. Come and see the history of our Town through historical artifacts and amazing photographs of days gone bye. You'll be in awe of the many and traditional ways that make our Town so unique. The Petty Harbour Maddox Cove Bidgood's Cove Tourism Information Centre will be opened on July 1,2010. This is a welcomed new piece of Infrastructure that will house Information on Tourist attractions located on the Greater Avalon Peninsular. This was made possible by an initative of the Petty Harbour Maddox Cove Development Corporation, a Volunteer Group, in partnership with the Atlantic Opportunity Agency (ACOA) and Industry, Trade and Rural Development (INTRD). The Petty Harbour Community Centre is the hub of the Town's Social and Heritage activities. The Centre is ran by a group of Volunteers the Petty Harbour Maddox Cove Recreation Commission. This group is also responsible for the ballfield, playground and the yearly Summer Program that hire Student that are responsible for supervising approximately 60-80 of the Town's most prescious commodity our Children. You could plan a wedding, party, meeting and have this catered by the Ladies Auxilary, the finest group of Ambassadors that we are so proud to call our own, not to mention they prepare a meal that will satisfy you palate and their friendship that will satisfy your hearts. On April 1 ,2010 we were saddened with the loss of a Ladies Auxilary member Emma Clements, she will always be in our hearts in in our prayers. Tidy Town's is an initative of the Federation of Municipalities and the Town of Petty Harbour Maddox Cove have been a reciepient of this prestigious Award for the last three years for the population size. The Tidy Town's Committe. a Volunteer Group, ask that you consider recycling and when visiting our Town help by disposing of you garbage in the bins provided and to avoid throwing garbage out your vehicle window. The Petty Harbour Maddox Cove Museum and Heritage Committee, a Volunteer Group, responsible for the Museum and the War Memorial. Come visit our War Memorial Site and pay respects to the men and women, from Petty Harbour Maddox Cove, that served their Country during the First and Second World Wars, the Korean Conflict and Afghanistan. On August 6, 7, and 8 the Second Annual Petty Harbour Maddox Cove Heritage Festival will take place in Bidgood's Cove. Plan on taking in some of the events and witness for yourselves the hospitatility of our Residents. While in Town visit our local business establishments take in the Fisherpeople and experience people actually working their craft and selling their product, pick-up a souvenir, purchase a print, get that special hair style/cut, sports bag, enjoy a meal, stay at an Efficiency Unit for a day or so and if you need excavating, that could be taken care of too. A Small Town with many services. When in Town take in a service at St. Georges Anglican Church and St Joseph's Catholic Church and meet our Pastors Rev. Lynn Courage and Fr. Paul Lundrigan you will not be disappointed. Congratulations to the Petty Harbour Maddox Harbour Authority for their continuos improvements to the Harbour Apron. They are a Volunteer group that oversee Federal Properties around the Harbour and responsible for applying and lobbying for Federal Funds. The Town Council of Petty Harbour Maddox Cove is very thankful to all of all our Volunteers and residents and welcomes you on their behalf to share with you through this Web Site a truly unique experience.
